Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Friends of Jeanné Kapela (the “Campaign,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our campaign website or interact with our forms and communications.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you sign up for updates, volunteer, or contact us, we collect details such as your name, email address, ZIP code, phone number, and any message you send. Newsletter sign-ups are processed by Mailchimp; donations are processed by ActBlue on their own platforms and subject to their privacy policies.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically collect certain technical data through cookies and similar technologies — for example your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and referring links. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand traffic, and advertising/retargeting cookies to measure and improve our campaign ads.
Cookies & your choices
When you first visit, you can Accept or Reject non-essential cookies using the banner at the bottom of the page. We use Google Consent Mode v2, so your choice is respected by our Google tags. You can change your mind anytime by clearing your browser’s storage for this site, and you can control or delete cookies in your browser settings.
You can also opt out of certain advertising cookies through the DAA, the NAI, and Google’s Ads Settings. Our tags honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where applicable.
How we use your information
We use your information to send campaign updates and event invitations, coordinate volunteers, respond to contact requests, run and measure our advertising, understand and improve our site, and comply with applicable campaign-finance and other laws.
How we share information
We share information with service providers who help us operate (for example, Mailchimp for email, ActBlue for donations, Google for analytics and advertising, and our hosting and ad-operations vendors), and when required by law or to protect our rights. We do not sell your personal information for money. Some sharing of online identifiers for targeted advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under certain state laws — see your rights below.
Your privacy rights
You may unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any message. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, or to opt out of targeted advertising or “sale/sharing.” California residents may exercise “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” rights. To make a request, email jeanne@jeannekapela.com.
Data retention & security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and we use reasonable measures to protect it. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Children
Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
